“A Place Full of Challenges and Happiness” 3/28/2021
How do you feel when you read the title? In our country do you believe there is a place full of not only challenges (which is everywhere) and of great happiness? Don’t worry too much. Let me introduce to such a place. A place where we care about each human being and value their unique stories, history and future. This place still exists in Myanmar, where there is so much sadness and grief… We call this place The Esther Project, and it is situated in 5 townships in Myanmar. It is the place where I found my true image.
Holistic development is the Esther Project’s vision. Therefore, our students learn with specific plans according to that vision. From our learning centers they learn English and computer skills. Our best interest is for the orphanage children. We are providing that first step forward to Help them reach their goals and dreams.
Have you ever lost something or someone you loved? All of the children we educate have suffered horrible losses, and as you know, it is very hard. This can lead to many psychological trauma's. Therefore, we try to help them with what they need and we listen carefully to what they’re feeling and in the process distinguish their individual strengths and weaknesses to help us provide a more effective learning environment for them. Children mostly act on their feelings, but some are afraid of something, as a result they feel lonely and hopeless. More often than not from my experience, most of our students are hungry for love and care from somebody. Their world is dark, they need a light to shin a path for their feet to follow. That’s why the Esther Project has emerged as the only hope for so many reasons for these children.
The nurturing of these beautiful children to become their fullest version of themselves through education is a great and wonderful process. Helping them to blossom colorfully, and become the brightest diamonds someday. There are times when I shed tears of joy, seeing the growth of our students and the change in their positive behavior. We learn together and laugh together, and share together. That’s why the Esther Project is a place of both challenges and great happiness.
